- Ingredients
- 1 4-6 lbs pork shoulder/butt
- @kingshawaiian Sweet Slider buns
- @kingshawaiian Original BBQ sauce
- 6-8 large banana leaves. Can be found at most Asian markets
- 1 tbsp of hickory or mesquite liquid smoke
- 2-3 teaspoons red Hawaiian Sea salt
- 2-3 cups of cabbage cut into large pieces
- Instructions
- Preheat smoker or oven to 225
- Lay down some moist banana leaves
- Place your pork shoulder down in the center
- Do not trim any fat
- Pat dry pork shoulder
- With a fork, pierce the entire pork shoulder
- Evenly coat entire pork w/ liquid smoke
- Sprinkle liberally w/ Hawaiian sea salt
- Wrap pork in banana leaves and use twine to secure
- Place in a cooking tray to catch all liquids
- Place in the smoker and cook until internal temp reach 205. For a 4lbs roast 6-8 hours
- When done let rest for an hour
- Pour liquid that has came out of wrap into a bowl
- Shred pork and add in cabbage
- Pour liquid in and mix
- Place back into smoker for 30min to soften cabbage
- Coat bottom half of slider buns with bbq sauce
- Pile on Kalua pork and top with buns then enjoy 🤙🏽
