Hawaiian Style Kalua Pork Sliders

Prep Time: 30 Min | Cook Time: 8.5 hrs

  • 1 4-6 lbs pork shoulder/butt
  • @kingshawaiian Sweet Slider buns
  •  @kingshawaiian Original BBQ sauce
  • 6-8 large banana leaves. Can be found at most Asian markets
  • 1 tbsp of hickory or mesquite liquid smoke
  • 2-3 teaspoons red Hawaiian Sea salt
  • 2-3 cups of cabbage cut into large pieces
  1. Preheat smoker or oven to 225
  2. Lay down some moist banana leaves
  3. Place your pork shoulder down in the center
  4. Do not trim any fat
  5. Pat dry pork shoulder
  6. With a fork, pierce the entire pork shoulder
  7. Evenly coat entire pork w/ liquid smoke
  8. Sprinkle liberally w/ Hawaiian sea salt
  9. Wrap pork in banana leaves and use twine to secure
  10. Place in a cooking tray to catch all liquids
  11. Place in the smoker and cook until internal temp reach 205. For a 4lbs roast 6-8 hours
  12. When done let rest for an hour
  13. Pour liquid that has came out of wrap into a bowl
  14. Shred pork and add in cabbage
  15. Pour liquid in and mix
  16. Place back into smoker for 30min to soften cabbage
  17. Coat bottom half of slider buns with bbq sauce
  18. Pile on Kalua pork and top with buns then enjoy 🤙🏽
